Minima

A picture of Minima

Minima is a blaster that I designed and prototyped myself, from scratch! It's currently on its third (and a half) iteration and will be released as open source once I'm fully satisfied with it.

I designed Minima because I needed a reliable and simple sub 160fps springer. I've definitely achieved that goal: Minima is (in my totally unbiased opinion) the best blaster in that niche.

I designed the blaster parametrically in Fusion 360. I drew design inspiration from the Caliburn, Lynx, and Skewer, aiming to capture the minimalism of the Lynx, the aesthetic cohesiveness of the Skewer, and the foolproof mechanisms of the Caliburn.

Minima has been under development for over a year at this point, so why haven't I released it yet? Well, there's still some things I'm not happy with:

  • One of my main design goals was to have quick spring and barrel swaps. Currently, installing a stock mounting point eliminates the quick spring swap capability. Having a stock is pretty important for comfortably running any spring load heavier than a 788, so I won't release the blaster until I can figure out how to add a stock mount while preserving spring swapability.
  • There's currently no easy way to adjust the tension of the sear elastic. I already have a solution in mind though.
